Message from the President of Dalat University
Welcome to Dalat University!
On 27 October 1976, the Vietnamese Prime Minister signed Decision No. 426/TTg establishing Dalat University as the successor to Viện Đại học Đà Lạt (The University of Dalat), which was founded in 1957 and began operations in 1958. Over six decades of formation, innovation, and development, Dalat University today is a multidisciplinary higher education institution known as an established, reputable institution of higher education, scientific research, technology transfer, and community service in the Central Highlands, South-Central Coast, and the whole country, with an important position in the higher education system nationwide.
Dalat University’s educational programmes follow CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate) standards. With advanced educational programmes and methods harmoniously combining theory and practise, the University helps students acquire professional knowledge, master the right skills, and foster positive attitudes to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the working world in the digital era. The University offers coursework in a wide range of disciplines, including education, social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and technology, and economics and management, with 41 full-time bachelor’s programmes, 10 master’s programmes, and 7 doctoral programmes. The University also provides education in a variety of forms, including part-time programmes, second degrees, transfer degrees, and other forms of short-term education.
Dalat University has been recognised as meeting the educational quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training since 2019. The University has eight programmes that have gained educational accreditation (five programmes according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and three programs according to the ASEAN University Network–Quality Assurance [AUN-QA] standards).
The University is ranked 38th among the top 100 universities in Vietnam in VNUR Ranking 2023. The University is always in the top 30 universities in Vietnam awarded by the Ministry of Education and Training for academic publications in reputable international journals.
In the context of international integration and development, Dalat University’s mission is to become an excellent higher education institution providing well-educated graduates for the workforce, conducting scientific research, and transferring technology applications to serve the socioeconomic development of the Central Highlands, the South-Central Coast, and the entire nation. Dalat University aims to be accredited according to the AUN-QA standards and to develop into a collegiate university with at least three member colleges by 2030.
Dalat University welcomes the cooperation, support, and companionship of domestic and foreign organisations and individuals to further its development as an excellent institution of education, scientific research, and community service in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
